Core Lock

Center-Wind or Surface Wind ? ? ? ?
|
|
We make both kinds of winding
machines. Center-Wind is rotatiing the tube on to which the material
is being rolled. Surface-Wind is rolling the material on to a tube using
friction rollers against the material. After exhausting experiments
(trial and error), the center wind has proven a better system for us.
When large diameter rolls are being wound, it is important that proper
tension is exerted as the diameter gets larger. We start off with a
tight tension, and decrease it as the diameter grows. this keeps a good
quality roll with a good edge.

After many complaints about
the use of a bar, and bar locking devices, we developed our "CORE LOCK".
It is a mechanical planetary spline gear arrangement that expands to
various core diametersa and as more torques is applied to the shaft
it exerts more pressure on the i.d. of the tube. this device not only
locks to the i.d. of the tube, but it centers it as well. This allows
for high speed winding while eliminating vibrations. The shaft is hexagon
which allows for quick changing of sizes. the two standard sizes are
1 1/2 " and 2 1/2" and 2" to 5". We make smaller and larger ones, up
to 10".
